However, this laminated film was originally developed for automotive glass, so its performance is mainly to meet the following requirements for automotive glass:

1. It can reliably bond glass, reduce the scattering of broken glass, and maximize the safety of drivers and passengers.

2. It can prevent stones and other small objects from breaking through the glass and entering the car.

3. It has a certain degree of softness to prevent the driver's head from violently hitting the windshield and preventing the inside of the vehicle from flying out of the car.

4. Meet the use of the car, in line with optical, noise reduction, UV blocking requirements.

Since the PVB laminated film is not mainly developed for building curtain walls, it is rich in elasticity, relatively soft, and has a small shear modulus. After the force between the two glasses, there will be significant relative slip, bearing capacity is small, and bending deformation Larger. PVB laminated glass can be used for general glass curtain walls and is not suitable for glass curtain walls with high performance requirements.

At the same time, the exposed edge of the PVB laminated glass is easily wetted by the moisture, and the PVB film laminated glass is prone to yellow discoloration after a long period of use, which should be noted.

The ideal laminated glass interlayer film for building curtain walls should meet the following requirements:

1. It has high bonding ability to glass and strong tear strength, which can prevent the glass from scattering when broken.

2. It has strong protective ability to prevent the destruction of natural forces and manpower. Strong resistance to strong winds, earthquakes, violence, theft, etc.

3. Can withstand the sudden impact of indoor personnel, to prevent the glass from scattering or the overall escape, to avoid indoor personnel flying out of the fall.

4. There is enough residual bearing capacity, and the whole piece will not fall off when the glass is broken and then deformed.

5. The interlayer film has a large shear modulus, so that the two glasses are bent as much as possible, thereby increasing the bearing capacity and bending rigidity of the glass, reducing the thickness of the glass, and reducing the weight of the glass.

6. It is colorless and transparent, and can withstand the effects of ultraviolet light, water vapor and external climate change. It will not be yellowed for a long time.

The PVB interlayer film currently used cannot fully meet the above requirements. It is necessary to develop a higher performance interlayer film for curtain wall laminated glass to meet the high standard requirements for laminated glass such as super high-rise building curtain wall, large-span lighting roof, oversized laminated glass, and all-glass structure.

Second, the characteristics of the ionic interlayer

Now, the interlayer film that meets the above performance requirements for building curtain wall laminated glass - ionic interlayer film has been developed by DuPont of the United States and mass produced under the trade name SGP. This laminated film has many excellent properties.

(1) High strength and shear modulus, excellent mechanical properties

The shear modulus of SGP is more than 50 times that of PVB, and the tear strength is 5 times higher than that of PVB. After the SGP is glued, the glue layer between the two pieces of glass will not slip substantially when the glass is stressed, and the two pieces of glass work as a single piece of glass of equal thickness. In this way, the bearing capacity is twice the bearing capacity of the PVB laminated glass of equal thickness; at the same time, the bending deflection of the SGP laminated glass is only 1/4 of the PVB laminated glass under the same load and equal thickness.
