Quilt Market has always been a highlight for me, even though I don't get to attend as often now that we're living overseas. It's a rare chance to reconnect with colleagues scattered across the globe. I particularly cherish the moments spent with fellow small business owners like Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gina Panastico, the co-owners of Cloud9 Fabrics. Alongside the other organic fabric companies in the market, they hold a special place in my heart.
I vividly recall the first Quilt Market where Cloud9 debuted. Their presentation was fresh and innovative, and we hit it off right away. Since then, I've thoroughly enjoyed keeping in touch with these remarkable women. They are not only passionate but also incredibly dedicated to their work. Once, on a flight home after the show, Michelle was furiously working on her laptop finalizing a fabric collection for her mill, while I snoozed the entire journey. She's certainly a powerhouse!
When I stumbled upon Cloud9's knit stripe collection on Instagram, I reached out immediately. I knew these fabrics would be ideal for our Girl on the Go Dress pattern. As it turns out, they were perfect! To celebrate our 10th anniversary, our friends at Cloud9 are generously offering one lucky winner the chance to choose two 3-yard cuts from either their Cloud9 Knits 2017 collection or their new Garden Ramble double gauze collection.
The Cloud9 knit basics are crafted from a substantial, soft interlock fabric that’s easy to handle. Unlike jersey, interlock doesn’t curl at the edges, making it a joy to work with. And let’s not forget the vibrant colors and playful patterns—these fabrics are simply irresistible.
Garden Ramble, on the other hand, is printed on double gauze, which is ultra-soft and drapey, making it perfect for many of our woven patterns. If you haven’t tried sewing with double gauze yet, you’re in for a real treat. Stay tuned next week, as I’ll introduce you to two new patterns from our upcoming spring release that pair beautifully with this material.
