In the near future, your wardrobe might include clothes and sneakers crafted from a novel non-woven fabric known as two-component microfiber. This innovative material not only offers beauty and comfort but also boasts durability, breathability, and resistance to dust mites. Recently, the joint effort between Jiangxi Jishang Sanjiang Microfiber Nonwoven Co., Ltd. and Dalian Hualun Chemical Fiber Engineering Co., Ltd. on the two-component ultra-fine fiber spunbond spunlace nonwovens process and equipment project has passed the evaluation organized by the China Textile Industry Association. An expert panel concluded that the project represents a remarkable integration of process, technology, and equipment innovation. It combines hollow orange-petal polyester PET/nylon PA6 (16-valve) composite spinning direct-forming technology, double-suction multi-segment pendulum forming technology, hydroentangled reinforcement, and open fiber finishing technology, all while maintaining a streamlined process flow. After fiber opening, the single fibers achieve ultra-fineness (up to 0.075D), resulting in products with high strength, balanced vertical and horizontal strength ratios, advanced process technology, and stable spinning performance. This breakthrough fills a gap in China’s non-woven fabric market and places both the technology and product at an international leading level. The experts unanimously agree that the successful development of this project enhances China’s technical capabilities in non-woven fabric products and equipment, promotes the restructuring of textile products, and showcases the importance of technological progress and product upgrades. This project, led by Guo Hexin, honorary chairman of the China Industrial Textiles Industry Association Spinning and Adhesive Branch, took nearly two years of research and development to overcome numerous technical challenges. The equipment installation and commissioning were successfully completed, meeting all expected objectives. Currently, the annual production capacity has reached 3,000 tons. It is reported that following the initial phase of the project, Jishang Sanjiang Microfiber Nonwoven Co., Ltd. and Dalian Hualun Chemical Fiber Engineering Co., Ltd. plan to invest an additional 650 million yuan over the next three years to construct eight production lines, achieving an annual output capacity of 30,000 tons. This is projected to generate sales revenue of 1.5 billion yuan. According to Guo Hexin, casual wear and sports shoes made from this non-woven fabric are already available and receiving positive feedback. This new technology not only opens up exciting possibilities for fashion but also underscores the growing importance of cutting-edge materials in everyday life. As these innovations continue to evolve, they will undoubtedly play a key role in shaping the future of textiles and beyond.
