Neoprene hoods are usually unisex items (mens and womens) and designed to retain heat lost through the head. When you are in very cold water, your head will losethe most warmth through the head, so you need a separate hood to keep warm. For surfing, you need a surfing hoods. For scuba diving, you may need a scuba dive hoods. Many neoprene hoods now come with fleece linings as to increase the overall warmth by keeping the hood pocket dryer, this is because these linings are hydrophobic and repel water from inside the hood.

In a recent interview, Professor Luo Jingjie from the renowned Fashion Research Institute in China and the School of Clothing at Shanghai Donghua University shared insights on upcoming fashion trends. According to him, the "bionic" style—inspired by nature and the animal kingdom—is set to dominate the fashion scene in the coming year. If you spot someone dressed like a beetle on the street, it might not be a coincidence; it could be a sign of the new trend taking shape.
Luo explained that after analyzing global fashion trends and major design works, he noticed a significant rise in designs influenced by animals and plants this year. This is especially evident in the popularity of patterns such as butterfly motifs, crocodile scales, snake skin textures, and houndstooth prints. These elements are seen as early indicators of the growing "bionic" movement in fashion.
He also highlighted that the use of 3D cutting techniques and geometric shapes will allow more realistic and creative representations of animal forms in clothing. This evolution reflects a broader shift in consumer interests, where people are increasingly drawn to nature and sustainability.
Luo pointed out that fashion trends are not controlled by individuals but are shaped by social and cultural forces. He compared this process to how a tree grows, suggesting that the final outcome can be predicted through the development stages. As environmental awareness continues to rise, people are rethinking their lifestyles and valuing the power of nature. This return to basics has fueled the popularity of bionic fashion.
With the upcoming Shanghai World Expo, experts believe it will further influence the direction of fashion design. In the "Fashion Trends 2011" report released by Donghua University’s School of Fashion, four main categories were identified: "Legend," "Ark," "Matrix," and "Movement." Among these, the "Matrix" trend—characterized by futuristic and minimalist aesthetics—has emerged as the dominant style, reflecting the spirit of the Expo.
